This beautiful bracelet is made from silver backed panels set with colourful Paua Shell from New Zealand. The Paua Shell is from abalone found in the waters around New Zealand. Due to the temperature and the minerals found in the sea water the shell colours differently to those found elsewhere in the world exhibiting bright iridescent greens. It is a prized shell. This particular piece was made by Ataahua who specialized in this type of jewellery.
The bracelet is stamped to the end panels Stg Sil in the New Zealand manner and has the little bee mark of Ataahua jewellery. The shell panels are exquisite and have no damage. The simplicity of design allows the Paua Shell to be the feature without any embellishment.
The bracelet secures with a sterling silver bolt ring. The links near the bolt ring have been soldered closed and some of this solder is grey in colour.
The bracelet is 190mm long and each panel is 21mm x 16mm.
