Stuart crystal is a company with a long family history dating back to the early 1800's.
At age 11 Frederick Stuart began work at the Red House glassworks in Stourbridge, England. When in his thirties, Frederick entered a partnership with Mills & Webb (forming Mills, Webb & Stuart) that purchased an iron foundry next to the Red House glassworks and started their own glass production company. In 1883 Stuart started a family business called Stuart & Sons, taking over the old Red House glass works where he had worked many years before.
The production of crystal continued through successive generations of Stuarts, seeing the eventual sale and take over of the business to other English entities. Stuart is now owned by the Waterford Wedgwood group and continues to create high quality crystal wares.
Stuart Crystal is often distinctive and the long period of production offers the collector a broad choice in styles. Cut patterns such as Beau, Carlingford & Glengarry compliment a traditional setting, whilst the Deco designs created by the collaboration of Robert Stuart and Lu Kny such as Woodchester, Ellesmere & Startime (to name a few) offer a more distinctive style. Stuart also introduced coloured crystalware and beautiful brightly enamelled glassware which was produced from the late 1920's until the late 1930's.
We strive to offer a broad range of Stuart crystal. If you cannot find what you require online we may still have it in store. Please feel welcome contact us by phone or email.
