This elegant setting was designed by famous Danish sculptor and designer Jens Harald Quistgaard. His designs became popular and heralded a new era in Scandinavian design as he designed functional items with clean lines and sculptural form. He became famous for his work with Dansk Designs where he was chief designer for 3 decades from 1954. This setting is an early design and would date to around the 1940-1950's.
The set comprises an 6 person place setting. There are 6 hollow handled dinner knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 entree forks, 6 dessert spoons, 6 soup spoons, 6 teaspoons and a gravy or sauce ladle. Knives are difficult to find even in Denmark and sell for around AU$40 if you can find them. The pieces have fine scratches from use but as can be seen present really well and are in very good condition. The surface of these pieces is reflective and bright with only a few fine usage scratches. There is no spotting or other marks. There are 37 pieces in total.
This is a rare setting to find from this great designer in such good condition.
