This gorgeous jug has the original vintage sticker to the underside as well as an incised mark LH. Lovemose pottery was set up by husband and wife Marie and Johannes Hansen in 1942 on the island of Langeland.
We are of the opinion this is a 1940's production from the shape, colour and the mark. The colour is a deep teal green or arsenic green with metallic patches and the jug has a grooved design around the base. We have seen one other similar grooved design in a floor vase in deep blue.
The mark to the underside is not the Lovemose mark seen on 1960's and later stoneware but we think it most likely the LH is for lovemose and hansen. The sticker is not one we have been able to find either, the later stickers being foil.
The jug is in very good condition with a lovely sheen to the glaze. There are small pock marks in the glaze and a small amount of crawling of the glaze to the very base. This is shown.
The jug or ewer is an impressive 290mm tall.
