This vintage brooch or pin was designed by Arno Malinowsky for Georg Jensen in 1940 to commemorate the 70th birthday of King Christian X of Denmark, born in 1870. Denmark was invaded by the German army in April 1940 and Georg Jensen Silver released this pin issued with the Kingmark or royal emblem to boost the moral of the Danish people. It has the Kings initials and the years 1870-1940 over the red and white Danish flag. The pins were very popular and became a symbol of resistance to the German occupation of Denmark.

The pin is marked 925 for sterling silver and has the Georg Jensen mark used from 1933-1944.

This is a symbolic piece of history made by one of the most famous silver workshops in the world.

There are a few scratches across the face of the enamel and silver but no damage as such to the pin or the enamel.

The pin is 25mm long x 14mm wide.
