Designed for Soholm pottery works on the island of Bornholm, Denmark this is not only an attractive piece but is practical as well.
The piece is made from stoneware and has a matt glaze with a simple design in soft blues.
The underside is clearly stamped for Soholm and has the pattern number of 3742-1. The 1 indicates there was more than one a size in this pattern. It is also impressed M P for Maria Philippi.
The surface of the stoneware is smooth and glossy with a silky feel.
There is no damage to the piece and no repairs. There is a small firing fault to the underside inner edge of the base where a narrow fissure has occurred to the ceramic in the kiln. This is shown. Interestingly the piece is not marked as a second.
We have called it a fruit bowl but being stoneware this pretty piece can also be used in the oven.
The bowl is 260mm across the widest part and stands 80mm tall.
