This beautiful piece is part of the Koka Bla range designed by Hertha Bengtson in 1953 for Rorstrand Sweden.

The Koka Bla (Book Blue) range was made from stoneware and comprised of around 40 table ware pieces. It was produced by Rorstrand until 1988 when it was retired.

This is one of the larger pieces and not often seen. It is marked as shown. The entire series is marked as flameproof even the cups and saucers as they are stoneware. This piece has a hole in the lid for steam to escape so it could be used in the oven if so desired. As can be seen the underside of the base is very clean so has never been used in this manner.

This piece has a waisted shape and we have called it a biscuit barrel which seems an ideal use for it.

This piece has no damage, no staining and no utensil marks. It is very clean and un marked. There is a small manufacturing glaze crawl to the outside edge as shown.

The large Lidded Jar or Biscuit Barrel is 210mm tall to the top of the knob and measures 200mm across the base.
