This beautiful light was designed by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors, Sweden, in partnership with lighting company Lyfa and is called Fagerlund. The design can be seen at danish-lights.com.
The light is simply beautiful and the crystal clear, bright and heavy refracting the light well. The thick crystal domed shade sits suspended, hovering over a round brass coloured aluminium backing plate. The resultant light spills out onto the ceiling or the wall upon which the light is mounted. The crystal has no colour although it does appear amber in the photos it is actually clear and gives a soft yellow glow with warm light globes.
The backing plate has reinforced screw holes for mounting. The light takes 6 E14 Edison screw bulbs readily available at supermarkets. We have used LED candle globes. Globes are replaced by easily unscrewing the flat cover plate to the crytsal. You will need an extra pair of hands as the crystal is heavy!
The crystal shade has a very small shallow chip to the inside edge which cannot be seen when the light is in place. It can be felt when a hand is run around the edge. We have shown it is close up. It can also be seen that there are chips around the mounting hole- these are production chips which have all been fire polished smooth so will not cut. The middle brass cover plate has tarnished to a dull brass as has the backing plate. The cover plate can be polished to a bright finish if so desired.
The wiring is original, with the wires joined and taped together with insulated tape with two leads ready for installation by your electrician.
There are paint marks to the edges of the backing plate as can be seen from when the light was installed on a ceiling and the ceiling painted around the light.
The crystal is around 390mm across and 120mm deep.
