This pretty spoon is in very good condition.
This spoon is marked Steiff Sterling to the back of the handle. This spoon belonged to my Aunt who lived in the US in the early 1950's. They left to come back to Australia in 1957.
The story goes is that she collected tokens at the supermarket that could be redeemed for sterling silver cutlery. This is one of the pieces she chose.
The spoon is called a jelly spoon used for serving jam. It is in the pattern Rose Motif featuring a lovely rose stem with a finely stippled background to the handle. The bowl is elegantly shaped. The pattern was released in 1954.
The spoon has fine scratches from use, there are no dents or deep scratches. The spoon is 155mm long and weighs 35.9gms.
