Designed for Soholm pottery works on the island of Bornholm, Denmark this is not only an eye catching piece but is practical as well.
The vase is from the Tudse Series designed by Einar Johansen. The Tudse translates as 'toad'. Some people have named it the Sea Urchin series but from research the latter seems correct although perhaps sea urchin is more appealing!
The glazed surface looks more like a moonscape to us.
The vase has three openings and is certainly a statement piece making a great display.
The mark to the underside of the base is the stylised EJ for Einar Johansen and a very faint 3482 for the design number.
The vase is 180mm long x 110mm tall.
