This newly framed original water colour painting is in very good condition.
It is signed 'Mare'. To the back is the Art Dealer's sticker who first sold the painting and the artist A. Mare and title 'Heidelberg'.
The art dealer was Kaj Frandsen was located at the address Skindergade 44 in Old Copenhagen. He owned the property from 1943 after the death of his father and it was still in his name in 1950. There is no record of him after this date. We surmise the painting was sold during this time.
Although a much painted scene by many artists this rendition is done in water colour in subtle tones of blues, purples and greens.
We have recently had the art work framed with a simple pale timber frame and off white mat.
There is no damage to the painting and no fading. The art paper is stamped to the lower right as shown.
The framed painting measures 535mm x 435mm. The painting is 400mm x 300mm to the inside of the mat.
