This teapot is in very good condition. It is in a design produced by Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grondahl over a number of years. The lovely design is called Hartmann and this particular piece was made in the 1950's. The self pattern to the ceramic is based on the distinctive seahorse and scale trim pattern first designed by Fanny Garde on her famous sea gull dinner setting. The base pattern was used on many dinner set designs. The ceramic is white with a richly gilded edging.
The teapot has a gorgeous detail of a sea shell to the knob to the lid and a regency style dolphin to the handle. The fish scale patterning is around the top of the teapot and around the lid. The gold trim is rich and intact for the most part. The only spot of wear is to the lip of the spout as shown.
There is no damage to this lovely teapot, the glaze is glossy and as mentioned the gold trim is rich and bright.
The teapot has a pattern number of 238 and is a 4-6 person teapot. It is a factory first.
The teapot is 170mm tall to the top of the knob and measures 260mm from handle edge to teapot spout.
