This piece was created by Nils Kahler  for Hermann Kahler Ceramics or HAK, Denmark. It has a graduated mustard glaze with an incised herringbone pattern to the body with natural exposed dark ceramic to the neck. The rim is also glazed in the colour. The stoneware base grins through where the glaze thins creating a pleasing effect.

This piece has one fault; a strange chip to the rim. I say strange as it looks like part of the glazed ceramic has broken away. Its hard to imagine an impact causing this fault. This looks to be a relatively easy fault to repair if so desired. Apart from this the vase is in lovely condition and shows no post firing faults. It is signed with the HAK monogram, Denmark and signed Nils to the underside of the base. As this is a highly sought after design even a chipped vase has value.

The body also has two spots where imperfections to the clay body. These are not damage to the vase from knocks or scrapes but occurred during the firing process.

The vase is 200mm tall. It is 95mm across the base and 40mm across the rim.

We have a good selection of Scandinavian art pottery.
