This beautiful little charm is quite delightful.

The charm is what is called Export Chinese meaning it was made for the Western World market.

The marks to the base help to date the piece with the word SILVER used from 1920 around 1940. The blossom mark is in fact a vent hole to release hot gas from the hollow interior as the deer was being made.

The vent holes were used in the period between 1930-1950.  We can safely say the charm the charm is c1940. The other thing that helps us date this gorgeous piece is that during the 1940's and 1950's people were travelling more and charm bracelets were very popular with charms being mementos of the places visited.

The deer is a symbol of wealth, prosperity and longevity and high status.

The deer figurine has textured surface and has been lightly gilded. There are cloisonne or enamel flowers to its body and it has red enamel eyes.

There is no damage to the piece and no repairs. All enamel is intact.

The deer measures 15mm across the base and is 15mm tall.

We have many items of vintage jewellery to view.
