This beautiful vase has a gorgeous iridescent finish. It is a reasonable size being around 210mm across and 100mm tall.
The vase is signed to the underside Cape Byron Hot Glass 88 and has a Colin Heaney Sticker. Colin Heaney set up his studio in 1982 under the name of Cape Byron Hot Glass studio. He worked there with many other glass artists until he sold the studio in 2008.
There is no damage to the piece and it is clearly signed to the underside of the base. This is an early piece.
We have read that those pieces with the Hot Glass Studio signature as opposed to the artists signature were often a lower standard of studio work and we can see that there are imperfections around the rim with tiny fissures in the glass, all from the glass blowing process.
There are no chips or cracks and the piece presents beautifully. The colours are just beautiful and the vase makes a statement.
