Emprades vintage + design is pleased to offer for your consideration an original painting by one of Australia's most famous and widely collected Indigenous artists; Michael Nelson Jagamara (Tjakamarra) (b.1945).
His works are exhibited world wide and he has been commissioned for high profile works, the most recognised of these is the 196 square metre mosaic in the forecourt of the New Parliament House.
This large painting is Acrylic on Canvas and is titled to the reverse 'Lightning & Rain Dreaming' and dated 19/4/05.
It features a black background splattered with drops of electric blue, chartreuse and white. There are scarlet red swathes of splattered paint across the work. The traditional symbols for lighting are painted in metallic silver.
The canvas is gallery wrapped on a wooden frame. The piece is in good condition with some rubbing from contact noted to the folded corners of the canvas as photographed. There is some very slight cracking to the paint at the folded edge of the canvas as seen in detail. There is no flaked paint. The surface of the face of the canvas is in excellent condition. The canvas is gallery wrapped on a wooden frame. There is a slight loss of tension to the canvas so there is some subtle undulation to the surface as a result.
This work is a large piece, making a strong visual impact in any room, office or foyer. It measures 114cm x 134cm.
