This elegant setting was designed by Henning Seidelin for Frigast Denmark. Henning Seidelin was a prominent famous Danish designer who studied at the Royal Danish Academy from 1917-1936. He began his career as a sculptor but soon turned to industrial design. His work encompassed many mediums and products range from silverware, cutlery, homewares, lighting, furniture and ceramics. As with many Danish designers their skill ranges over many fields in their life time. Among others Henning designed for Georg Jensen, Hans Hansen, Frigast/Gense, Le Klint and Royal Copenhagen.
The setting is called Savoy and was first designed in the early 1950's. It has a sleek glossy pattern with fine lines and elegant curves to the handles. The set would work well in a Mid Century setting but be just at home in today's decor.
The set is silver plated and comprises as setting for 12 people. There are 12 smooth bladed dinner knives, 12 dinner forks, 12 entree forks, 12 soup spoons, 12 dessert spoons, 12 teaspoons, 2 large jam spoons, a smaller jam spoon and 2 small cocktail forks. There are 77 pieces.
The pieces are in very good condition with light scratches from use. One dinner knife has a smudgy grey marks to the base of the blade as shown.
They present beautifully.
This is a rare opportunity to obtain such a set by this esteemed designer.
