This lovely piece of Art Glass was produced by Australian Glass Artist Michael Hook and is signed with his signature to the underside of the base. Hook ran a glass studio called Resolution Glass works in the suburb of Kensington Melbourne.
It took us a while to decipher the mark but compared to other signed Art Glass by Hook we were able to confidently ascertain this as his. It is also a know design of Hook's.
There is a good write up of him at the Australian Glass blogspot. The site also shows a number of perfume bottle design he created including this one.
The bottle is cased in clear glass over rich purple a technique called Sommerso. The stopper is clear. There is a line of controlled bubbles adding to the beauty of the piece.
There are some scratches to the underside on the flat polished base and a few very tiny nicks to the edges of the base. One can be seen in the photograph of the signature just above the H. The surface scratches can also be seen in this photograph.
In general viewing one would day this is a perfect piece as it is only on very close scrutiny these things are seen.
The bottle is 240mm tall to the top of the stopper and 125mm to the top of the rim of the bottle. It is around 70mm wide.
