This lovely vase is a rarity.

The vase is Austro Bohemian in origin and would date to around 1900. From our previous experience, research and viewing of other examples we were of the opinion it was from the Loetz workshop. Having contacted Loetz.com they agree it could be mistaken for Loetz and is similar to the DEK designs. They suggest it is most likely Schliersee from its shape and yellow base colour.

Schliersee was produced in the town of the same name over a period of years. Some sources say it started in 1867, others say 1870. However there is no dispute about when it closed in 1914.

The vase is marked to the underside with the roman numeral 11 for 2 and the decor number 848. There is also a number at the start 280 which we presume is the shape number.

The vase is tall standing 260mm. The top is cut and polished as shown with the orange coloured glass over the top of a yellow glass. The delicate floral design is infilled with a more pinky colour with green and purple iridescence.

There is no damage to this lovely piece. However there are included air bubbles within the glass and one of these is on the rim and extends down inside the glass a small way.

This is not damage and would have occurred when the vase was made. Over time the bubble has filled with dust so the colour of the bubble is a pale grey.

As mentioned the vase is 260mm tall.
