This lovely pair of vases is a rarity. It is difficult to find a matching pair.
We believe the vases are Austro Bohemian although there is a sticker applied to the base by the previous owner saying they are Webb Bronze. We are doubtful of this as the base glass is red where as from what we have read Webb's base glass was green.
Who the glass factory was that produced these is a mystery to us.
The vases are also mould blown as shown by the undersides of the base with no pontil mark. The rims are cut and polished. The colour of the glass is beautiful with various shades of iridescent green and rich purple.
Each vase has an applied leaf diagonally draped across the front with tiny silver speck inclusions.
The bases are thick and no light penetrates the base when a torch is shown from beneath. The walls of the vase show as a rich red when light is shone through it.
The inner rim of both vases have tiny chips as shown. There is no other damage.
The vases are slightly different in height one is 220mm tall, the other is 224mm tall. Each measures 92mm across the base.
