What an interesting pair of vases!

Both vases are almost identical but certainly made in the same manner and factory.

These are pieces made by Willy Johansson for Hadeland Glassworks in Norway. Although one piece is signed Archimede Seguso Murano amid a myriad of scratches. The signing is deep, erratic and jagged unlike a true Murano master craftsman signature.

We believe someone has tried to make this a far more valuable vase than it is. It has Hadeland pedigree but to ramp it up to a signed Seguso piece makes it far more valuable. So we are of the opinion the signature is a fake!

The bases of these vases are polished to a flat satin matt which is seen on many Scandinavian pieces but never on Seguso glass which has a highly polished glossy concave pontil mark or a roughly broken pontil mark.

The vases have a maroon spiral twist decoration with a thick rolled rim.

There is no damage to either piece although there is fine edge rubbing around the base edge as can be seen.

The vases are slightly different in height being around 160mm tall.
