This cutlery set was made in Norway from high quality 18/8 stainless steel with Pewter handles. The back of the pewter is stamped GJ Pewter for Gielo Pewter. Gielo is a town in Norway.
Pewter has been used in Norway for centuries and it was the Norwegian craftsmen who turned this dull grey metal into functional works of art. This set is no exception with a graceful Norwegian traditional folk art rosemaling design inset to the handles.
This set would date to the 1970's and is in very good condition. The stainless steel sections are glossy and bright with only fine scratches from use.
The pewter also shows fine scratches and little indents from use. Please see the photos.
There are 12 finely serrated dinner knives, 12 dinner forks, 12 dinner spoons, 2 pate knives, 2 jam spoons, 2 small meat forks and a pair of salad servers. There are also 6 teaspoon that will be included that showed up later and are not photographed.
