This piece of vintage jewellery is in very good condition.
The necklace features a "Greek Key" or "Meandros" (Meander) decorative design. The flat Meandros panels interlock with hinge type joiners. Each panel is slightly curved so the overall shape of the necklace is a circle.
The Meandros is an ancient Greek design representing the infinite & eternal flow of life. In its full form it is an unbroken line.
The symbol was of great significance is ancient Greece, and adorned many temples and buildings of significance.
The necklace is designed to sit at the base of the neck as shown on our photos.
It measures 47.5cm long and 8mm wide.
The necklace secures with a parrot clasp, and is hallmarked 925 for Sterling Silver to the clasp and the back of several panels.
