This beautiful set features a pair of leaf shaped clip on earrings which come on a backing plate so that the pair can also be worn as a brooch. This also keeps the earrings together when they are not being worn.
We have seen larger clips together on a duette brooch backing but this is the first time for a pair of earrings. The rear of the backing plate is stamped 935 Germany.
These are definitely earrings, have a look at the clips, they are rounded where the clip keeps the piece is place on the ear lobe. Normal Duette brooches detached to dress clips made to attach to fabric or to shoes and had rather large clips with aggressive teeth and locator pins that would not feel good on the ear!
This set is rare.
The earrings are 20mm x 16mm each and combined make the brooch or duette clip 40mm x 16mm.
There is no damage to the pair and no missing stones.
