This pair of earrings is stamped 999 for fine silver to the back and also MCP for the maker. One is also stamped 925. This would be a stamp to show it is at least 925 silver. We have not been able to identify the maker.
999 marking is for fine silver with silver content of 99.9%. It is rarely used in jewellery due to its lower hardness but it does have a lovely lustre when polished.
The earrings are hand crafted in solid silver with a central cut out design which has been enameled.
The earrings have polished up beautifully and the central green enamel is bright and vibrant. The shape of these reminds me of a medieval shield.
The earrings are 45mm long from the top curve of the hook and around 13mm at the widest.
We have many items of vintage jewellery to view.
