This piece of vintage jewellery is in lovely condition.
The necklace features round beads of Bakelite in a rich dark russet amber colour with streaks of cherry amber colour. The strand has been threaded on fine wire wrapped thread and the clasp is a gold plated bolt ring.
The beads have tested positive for Bakelite with Simichrome polish showing a dark yellow nicotine colour when rubbed.
As well as the streaking these also seem to have amber like inclusions. These are highly polished as can be seen and the inclusions appear right up to the surface. The beads are rounded but not perfectly so. There are surface fissures to 3 beads as seen, and do not go all the way through the beads, although the smallest of these has a gap between the fissure. There is graduation with the largest bead at the front being 19mm x 19mm. The smallest bead to the back is 10mm x10mm.
The strand is short and measures 350mm long and weighs 38gms.
