This exquisite watch would date to around 1930. It is marked Pierpont 15 Jewels Swiss Made to the face.
The watch is in very good working condition. It has been recently cleaned and serviced by our jeweller so is ready for use. The face is white is colour with silver numbers and hands. The full marcasite band and casing are stamped Stg Sil in the Australian manner. This is a beautiful piece. The watch casing and band are Australian with a Swiss Pierpont Movement.
There are no marcasites missing and no damaged stones. All the stones reflect the light really well with a lot of sparkle. The marcasites are all bead set indicating quality. Bead set means that a little of the sterling silver setting is pulled up and over the marcasites to hold them in place. This is a delicate and time consuming job and was carried out by women who worked for a much less wage than men. These days it is not economical to set marcasites in this manner and modern pieces are simple glued in place. The push in box clasp is sterling silver and has the added security of a safety chain.
Please note as the watch is old it does not have a shock proof mechanism so a drop to the floor or a hard surface will break the main spring requiring a repair.
The watch face is 11mm x 11mm and the casing is 15mm x 30mm. The band is 10mm wide and 161mm in length.
