This pretty piece of Danish pottery is in excellent condition.
The vase was made by Per and Annelise Linnemann Schmidt for Palshus pottery, Denmark. It has an impressed design to the chamotte body and a glossy sage green glaze that pools at the neck and base as turquoise blue. It is incised to the base Palshus Denmark and APL-S C17 and hand painted in oxide D/7P.
Chamotte refers to the clay body of the piece which has had grounds of particular clay that has been fired already and has a high aluminium content. This results in 'grits' in the clay which are pulled along creating shallow grooves when the piece is hand thrown. These horizontal grooves then fill with glaze so the result is textured with a range of depth of colour.
The vase is a factory first and has no faults.
It measures 12.5cm tall and 4.3cm across the rim.
