This beautiful table is made from Brazilian Rosewood and features pretty length ways grain to the top veneer and solid legs. The top is trimmed in solid rosewood and has a lovely waxed finish to the surface. The timber just glows. There are two extensions which pull out end to end. The top itself sits neatly in place with thick locating dowels and is simply lifted straight up to remove it if required.
We have not been able to identify the maker as yet. The timber in these legs is solid Rosewood.
The table is 1240mm long when in 6 person mode and each extension adds an other 520mm. The top is 20mm thick. It is 840mm wide. In total the table can be extended to 2250mm in length making an 8 person setting with 4 chairs down either side and a comfortable 10 person setting by adding another at either end. The table top measures 745mm down to the floor.
Although we have waxed the table it has not been restored and as such still retains its original finish which does have some sun fading to the central section so the extensions are more rich in colour. The central section has fine usage marks, fine scratches adding to the patina.
You'll notice the extensions are darker than the main top. This is a natural 'sun tan' effect from decades of use. While some might sand the centre down to match, we've chosen not to. Why? To preserve the integrity of the veneer. Heavy sanding leaves the timber too thin for future repairs. We believe in keeping this piece's history and its longevity intact. This table is built to last another lifetime not just to look good in photos.
