This striking lamp is made from stoneware and features a lava glaze used as a decoration around the waist of the lamp.
The body of the lamp is glazed in grey and the decoration is in a deep rich blue with the bubbly textured Lava glaze defining the pattern.
The lamp came from Denmark and we assume from its style it was made in Europe or Scandinavia. The underside of the base is impressed with what looks like 4 and MC. The original Danish fitting is still present and takes an E27 screw in bulb.
The lamp has been rewired with new black cord with a switch in line and safety tagged by our electrician.
The lamp has been paired with a new blue pleated shade which was made in Denmark. The shade clips on to the bulb.
There is no damage to the ceramic. We can see under glaze indents to the underneath base rim. These were in situ when the piece was fired.
The lamp base measures 240mm to the top of the ceramic and 430mm in total height including the shade. The base is around 150mm cross.
