This pretty brooch is very stylish and dates to around 1970. It is signed to the back with several marks including the Eagle mark but the markings are very faint. However this is a known design by Miguel Melendez and assayed in Taxco Mexico.
The brooch features a modernistic design set with a single bright cut topaz. The topaz has fine web like inclusions helping to identify it as a natural gemstone.
There are a few very fine scratches to the surface of the silver. The topaz is quite exquisite. The brooch secures with a sprung pin in a roll over safety catch. Both catch and hinge are quality pieces.
The brooch is 55mm x 30mm. The topaz is 10m across.
