This interesting vase was designed by Fin Alvar Aalto and has become an iconic design. A series of these vases was presented at the world fair in 1936 where it won first prize.
It is still produced by Iittala today in various colours and sizes. However this size in cobalt blue is no longer produced. Cobalt Blue was released in 1986 to commemorate 50 years since the release of the vase. The colour was discontinued in 1991.
The underside of the base is acid etched ALVAR AALTO.
There is no damage to this piece. No chips. There are lights scuffs and scratches to the underside from use. These are shown.
The vase can be used as a float bowl for flowers, a piece for serving chocolates and other delights, a tealight holder etc etc.
The vase is 50mm tall and 200mm x 170mm across.
