This lovely pair was designed by Johann Haviland, Bavaria (Germany). The salt & peppers are porcelain and has a 835 silver overlay design. This is not plating but a solid silver layer to the ceramic.
The silver is marked 835 for a high grade silver content of 835 out of 1000.
The little salt & pepper have a russet porcelain background with the bright silver design to front and back with silver top and base rim.
There is no damage to the porcelain only slight rubbing where the silver tops screw into place.
The silver screw tops do show some corrosion mostly to the inside of the salt. There are a few dark spots to the top of the salt as shown and a tiny tear to the screw section on the salt top as can seen. The screw top to the salt does not screw u p tightly most likely because of this tiny tear.
There is still some tarnish to the design which did not polish out when gently polished.
The salt and pepper measure 55mm tall and around 45mm across the widest part.
