This light is made from pleated or folded plastic which is tucked into a black coated metal frame. Having research this shade we have found very similar ones with the sae type of metal fittings by French Rispal lighting company. We are of the opinion this is a Rispal light and would have most likely been a pendant from a teak frame.
However whoever designed it made an impressive piece. It would date to around 1950-1960.
There is no damage to the piece, no tears or indents to the plastic and the black metal coating has no scratches or loss of colour. The black coating looks like a bonded coating not paint.
The light has a soft cream glow as the light is beautifully diffused through the pleats. The bulb fitting is black and is for an E27 screw in bulb. The new cord is white and it has been re wired for Australian Standards.
The light is 240mm deep x 350mm wide.
The light will need installation by a qualified electrician.
