This gorgeous pair of bears was crafted in the Hyllested ceramics workshop. Hyllested Keramik was founded by Holger Jensen in 1959. Holger Jensen trained at the renowned Herman Kayler ceramics workshop before setting up his own studio pottery. It was a studio pottery which produced hand thrown and hand sculpted bowls, dishes and vases. Apart from this were the delightful hand sculptured small figures which have become collectors items in their own right. In 1970 Jensens son Leif took over the workshop.
This pair comprises a mother bear and her cub. Both have glazed highlights to the eyes, noses and ears while the rest of the figure is dark brown stoneware. Each is stamped to the underside Hyllested Keramik Made in Denmark.
Mother bear is around 85mm tall and 95mm wide. Baby bear is 70mm x 70mm.
There is no damage to either piece.
