This lovely bowl or planter pot is in very good condition with no damage. The piece was designed for Soholm pottery by Artist Noomi Backhausen on the isle of Bornholm, Denmark.
The base is well marked for Soholm to the underside and is a factory first. It is also signed DEK Noomi. We cannot find out what the DEK means. This is a rare shape and we cannot find another of this size or proportion. It is a practical size for a planter and would suit many indoor plants.
The base has a richly textured finish with glaze in blue, white, brown and green with a leaf design motif repeated around the sides. The hand made nature of this piece is very evident and appealing and the marks made by throwing on pottery wheel are a feature.
This lovely piece would be ideal for a side table or sideboard and suitable in which to place an indoor plant.
There is a small factory fault to the inside rim as shown. This fissure is glazed over and does not appear to the outside.
The planter is 145mm tall, 200mm across the belly with an opening of 145mm.
