The 1960s were a vibrant and transformative decade, and this spirit is captured in this Holmegaard "astronaut" lamp that was designed by Michael Bang in 1967.

This lamp is a nod to the era's fascination with space exploration and the ongoing Apollo missions, and is designed with an imaginative blend of futurism and fun.

With a bold, colorful design this glass lamp came in bright yellow, red and green as well as white.

The piece is a genuine vintage mid century item and has been rewired with a new three pin plug and safety tested and tagged ready for use in the home. It takes an E14 screw in globe available in supermarkets.

The lamp can be either attached to wall or used as a table lamp. Currently it is wired with a plain cord and no switch. There is a mounting hole to the underside of the base and it can be hung on a screw or hook in the wall.

There is no damage to the lamp, there are no chips or cracks.

This beautiful green colour is lined with white (opal) glass to make it opaque, and it is a hard colour to find in this design.

The lamp measures 21cm tall to the top of the glass and around 14cm across the widest part. The base is 10cm across.

A fun and collectable piece of decor that is a nod to the optimism of the 1960's when the world was fascinated by the stars and their possibilities.

If the lamp is sold Internationally the plug will be removed and a new one installed by an electrician in your home country.
