This beautiful piece is a lithograph hand coloured with watercolour and signed by the artist.
Bodil Marie Kaalund-Jørgensen (1930-2016) was a significant and award winning Danish female artist, best known for her large volume of religious art works for bible illustrations and within Danish Churches.
This particular piece is called 'Garden of Gethsemane' and is from 1987.
The framed piece measures 37cm x 47cm and the measurements of the artwork exposed within the inner mat are 22cm x 32cm.
The colours are rich and dark, the heavy texture of the piece reveals the figures slowly, with observation and contemplation of the work.
The paper has not been stuck down within the frame (as is custom with original art works) so has gone a little wavy over time. This could be remedied by re-framing if so desired.
The frame is in good condition with a few small marks. It is a semi-translucent white paint on the wooden frame.
