This beautiful and striking lamp is in very good condition.

I have spent many hours researching this amazing piece. We thought perhaps it was a Herman Kahler as the rough brutalist finish seemed consistent with their work.   AI keeps telling me it is distinctively an early Palshus for Le Klint due to the dark chamotte clay with iron oxide glaze to the top and is iconic to early 1960's production. The side cord exit with central cut out and notched arch is also distinctive of Palshus as is the unglazed base.

During this period Kahler, Soholm and Palshus made custom stoneware bases for Le Klint and sometimes did not sign their lamps but had a paper or foil label to the underside. We know that all of these workshops made large stoneware lamps in collaboration with Le Klint.

However where ever this lamp came from in Denmark it is impressive and beautifully made. There is a lot of skill involved in making such a large piece and it would have come from one of the large ceramic workshops.

The lamp is impressive and as mentioned features a dark brown chamotte unglazed stoneware to the body with a iron glaze over the neck to soften the rawness of the finish. The original Bakelite E27 fitting with switch is still present but has been rewired to comply with Australian Standards using a quality brown braided finish cord.

The lamp comes with its original Le Klint shade. The shade has a slightly melted part to the underside as shown. From the right side it presents beautifully.

It has been safety tested and tagged complying with Australian and New Zealand Standards.

The lamp measures 550mm tall to the top of the ceramic and around 850mm in total height. The width of the base is 170mm.
