This beautiful spoon was made by Western Australian Silver workshop of James Linton. James W.R. Linton was highly regarded as a jeweller and silversmith with his work mainly in the Arts and Cratfs style. His son James A B Linton (known as Jamie) was trained by his father and began working as a silversmith from around 1920. He created his own designs featuring Australian based motifs including wildflowers and animals. He became one of Australia's best known metal workers by the end of WW2. This spoon is one of his designs and according to the Power house museum would date 1930-1940.

This particular caddy spoon features a leaf and flower motif within a rope edged border. It well marked to the back with the gumnut marks, StSilver and JAL. It features a beaten finish to the bowl.

There are fine scratches from use and or storage. We believe this spoon has been repaired to the base of the last leaf to the handle. Please look at the photos where the silver solder is evident. We find it hard to believe that the spoon would have left the silver workshop like this although it is hard to imagine how a break would occur in this spot.

The spoon is 91mm long and measures 24mm across the bowl. It weighs 13gms.
