This pretty brooch is in very good condition.
The piece is a dress clip designed to be worn as either two identical brooches or a single brooch. The idea was to turn a round or V neckline into a sweetheart neckline by clipping the two brooches to either side of the neck edge.
Sometime these clips were also worn on shoes. It was a fashion statement of the 1940's.
This particular piece is solid silver but has no markings we can find. It is set with many sparkling marcasite stones. The spring mechanism is not silver but steel as silver would be too soft.
Each brooch or clip sits within the frame and the frame secures with a roll over locking safety clasp.
There are no stones missing and the brooch presents beautifully. There is an eyelet for a safety chain but there is no chain present.
The brooch is 50mm x 18mm.
