These distinctive Mid-Century arm chairs are an Australian design classic.
The Tessa T4 suite was designed by Fred Lowan in the 1970's. Featuring it's low slung 'hammock' design and beautiful plywood curves these chairs are one of the most sought after Tessa Designs.
This pair features the Teak Ply option and is in very good condition. The frames are very well looked after with only a few light marks and no deep scratches, repairs or other damage. The frames are solid and joints are in excellent condition. The hammock netting support is in good condition and is intact. The Upholstery is the original cream berber upholstery that has been thoroughly cleaned and presents very well with a few light marks and one small hole to a seam on one side as pictured. The chairs must have been purchased at slightly different times as the upholstery style is slightly different. On one chair the base cushion is in two separate segments with a zipper that joins them to stop them sliding apart, and in the other chair there is a division in the one cushion with a seam that holds them together. They present as a matching pair (visually you cannot tell). You cannot notice this difference unless you inspect the chairs in detail.
This pair is very usable in its current state, but there is also the option of re-upholstering them to suit your own style. The existing cushions will provide an accurate template for an upholsterer to replicate the original design.
There chairs are low and comfy... ideal for those who like to 'sink into' a chair.
The chairs measure approximately 76 cm wide, 83cm high and 93 cm deep. Because they have a plywood frame they are reasonably light for their size.
These chairs are available to purchase in store, freight may be organised by the purchaser but logistics would need to be negotiated with us prior to the purchase of the piece.
