This impressive original painting is signed E Thorbjorn to the bottom right. Einar Thorbjorn (sometimes also referred to as Evelyn Boje Thorbjorn) was born in the very early 20th century and spend some years in Greenland where many of the topics for his paintings were found. Lyndon B Johnston purchased two of his paintings in 1963 when he was vice president to the United States of America.
This particular painting is simply titled Gronland and features a scene of a fisher boat taking off from its mooring. The light in the painting is quite amazing.
We have had the painting re framed with a charcoal coloured timber frame.
The framed piece measures 104mm x 745mm.
