This very striking bowl was hand crafted in the ceramic workshop of Thomas Toft in Bisserup Denmark. It is incised to the underside of the base TT Denmark and what looks like 10a.
Thomas Toft is well regarded for the creation of his fine stoneware pottery. Hand made from dark brown 'Chamott' clay then glazed in white slip glaze which has then been scraped away to expose the dark ceramic beneath to create the design.
The fineness of his piece is quite amazing. Most stoneware pieces are thick and chunky but this piece is fine and thin.
Because of this distinctive fineness not a lot of this style of his pieces survive in tact and are relatively rare. Pieces can be seen on selling platforms world wide being sold with chips, even sometimes very large chips.
The bowl is a large piece measuring 280mm x 225mm. It stands 80mm tall.
