Arcansas was founded in the early 1950's by Hungarian immigrant Elizabeth Reimer. Elizabeth came from a family of Jewellery makers and started manufacturing jewellery from her own home in Sydney after a trip to America opened her eyes to the popularity of costume jewellery. Seeing an opening in the Australian market for such pieces she began creating good quality costume jewellery under the brand name 'Arcansas'.

Pieces are marked to the back with an arch shaped motif and the word Arcansas. Occasionally pieces of jewellery can be found with the added bonus of an original swing tag.
