This is an opportunity to own a beautiful and rare lamp in wonderful condition.
Made by Hjorth Pottery on the Isle of Bornholm, Denmark the piece it is hand painted with a beautiful freeze of stylised flora including mushrooms. The clay has been fired at a very high temperature and the brown silky finish to the lamp is the finished product of the firing. The design is exquisitely hand painted in soft natural hues.
The piece is signed to the underside L Hjorth. It would date to the 1920's-30's. It pre-dates the Stag mark that was introduced from c.1930.
The lamp is in excellent condition and has no chips, cracks or repairs. It has been fully rewired with new fitting and a gold coloured cord with a switch inline. The old bronzed capping to the top has a beautiful warm patina. The piece has been tested and tagged by an electrician.
The lamp is weighted and is very heavy. We have paired it with a Danish pleated shade in a cream colour that is fabric covered. The shade clips on to the bulb. It has a subtle patterning to the weave like reflections on water. It measures 37cm tall in total with the shade and approximately 17cm in diameter at the widest point.
