This is a very solid and heavy piece of furniture. Made from walnut it features brass mounts to the corners and edges. The handles to the drawers are recessed as are the two to the sides.
The top features exposed dovetail joins. The drawers move smoothly.
The chest has a great patina with scuffs and marks from use. There is age related wear and scratches throughout. The finish is irregular in colour with some fading as can be seen and loss of finish in places.
This chest is not perfect by any means but has a charm all of it own that can't be repeated with a 'restoration'. It has been cleaned by us and is ready for use.
It is serviceable and we think presents beautifully just as it is.
