This lovely piece is in very good condition. It is a rare design and not often seen.
Made by Hjorth Pottery on the Isle of Bornholm, Denmark the piece it is decorated with a hunting scene with two warriors, dogs and deer. The lid is decorated with a vine pattern.
The piece is signed to the underside L Hjorth in script which is the early late 19th century early 20th century mark.
The glaze is a deep maroon or oxblood with olive green. There are fine open bubbles to the glaze as can be seen.
There is a pre-glaze indent the rim of the lid and a tiny chip to the rim of the lid shown in close up detail.
The piece is 210mm tall x 160mm across the rim.
