This piece of antique Australian jewellery is in beautiful condition.
The 9ct gold necklace is marked with the Victorian Jewellers' Association hallmark showing 9 and a Square and a Compass to the back. This was used by Johnson and Simonsen 1895-1914. The firm became H Simonsen Pty Ltd from 1914-1927.
The firm was based in Melbourne.
This piece would date to around 1900.
The necklace is all original complete with the barrel clasp also stamped 9c for 9ct.There is the added security of a gold safety pin and chain attached to the back.
We can see one stone, to the left, has some chipping to the underside of the back as shown. The bottom drop has a slight bend in the gold wire drop which can be sen from the back. We have left this as is.
The central decorative section is 70mmx 55mm and the chain measures 480mm long.
