This piece of antique jewellery is in beautiful condition.
The necklace is gold lined and has the original chain with its barrel clasp which works well. The Art Nouveau design has a triangular base entwined with leaves and flowers and set to the centre with a large well cut paste golden amber stone. The gold presents as a pale rose gold.
Gold Lined indicates that the piece is made from a sheet of solid 9ct gold heat attached to a base metal (often silver or copper) to give a long lasting piece of jewellery with all the look and feel of gold. It is the next best thing to solid gold and the best form of plating being better than rolled gold.
This piece would date to around 1900-1920.
There are no faults as such with this piece.
The pendant measures 32mm long which includes the bale and around 18mm across. The necklace measures 400mm long.
